This is presently the biggest mall currently and the most visited too.The fun city gaming area here keeps kids occupied and so do the food courts...I liked the annapoorna food joint here for the view it has and the tables with the self order option. They have a touch screen menu ordering option for few of the tables. The highlight of the mall is sathyam cinemas with a nice lounge area.

Diner a notch above the rest
If you are a fitness freak,a health conscious person or a taste explorer then i would suggest you definitely don't miss Nalan. It is a typical Sidha restaurant i can say.It is all healthy and filling as well. The taste....hmmm.....as far as the taste is concerned, my comment would be that "it depends on each person's perspective and their own notions".......Anyways good luck with that...i guess it is time for us to move on from food to hangouts.... ;)

#Top diners @ Coimbatore
There could be so many things in a city, but wherever we go(my husband and me) only look for places that serve yummy food...So here goes my top 12 favorite eat out places at Coimbatore out of the ones i have tried till now.We are vegetarians....so this might seem biased to the non veggies....anyways ...the top most in the list as far as i have considered include aspects like the taste, ambiance and service put together. As the scale moves down you could look at it as places that value money and serve reasonable quantity
I can give you the list of my favorites from each place.
12.Annapoorna- Serve fast and wait for u to eat fast...they are more like saravana bhavan of Coimbatore ;) my favorite here is badam halwa
11.Aryas --Serve on an acceptable speed, wait next to u hoping you leave...you can compare this to Anandha bhavan. We go here for my hubby's favorite-chilly parota
10.Haribhavanam--I have not been to the place but ordered when i used to work at Cross cut road. The quantity of meals is so much that two people can have a satisfying lunch from one serving.
9.Moti Mahal --North Indian,Serve non veg as well.I liked the lassi here
8.Thats y food--two words : Amazing mock-tails
7.Gravy--They serve non veg too. I loved the Mixed veg tandoori platter!
6.Green & Grains--Vegetarian food.My father in law's regular. He likes having brunch here whenever he is at Coimbatore officially
5.Bombay Brasserie--They serve non veg as well. The dessert i had here is what made me remember the place --Jalebi with rabdi.Oh yes....one more think i liked here was the flavor of mint and lemon in water.
4.Wok this way--They have non veg too.I like the veg momos here
3.Little Italy--My favorite cuisine is Italian. This place always give me a good feeling...lets just say,he takes me here to cheer me up ;) I love Cheese fondue here, other favorites are pasta, pizza and assorted crostinis
2.Afghan grill--I like this place more for the ambiance than the taste...the kebabs and tikkas are good.If you are looking up for a memorable evening with friends,i would suggest this place.
1.Cream centre--This place is my most favorite as they are so versatile. You can go here as a whole bunch with different kinds of taste buds...They serve only vegetarian(another reason why this is my favorite)--North Indian,South Indian,Chinese,Mexican,Italian...They have wonderful tummy pampering sizzlers here....
Hope this list helps you choose your favorite...

Vanakkam Coimbatore
I found our 3 bedroom house online(an apartment at Ramanathapuram),my in laws booked it for us.We landed in our in laws place for a night and then went to our new house to receive the packers and the movers. It took three days in a row for us to get the house settled in an order.I must appreciate my mother in law's zeal in the task without whom we couldn't have done it.On day four was the joining date for my Husband i woke up as soon as i heard the alarm in my mobile.According to human psychology we tend to chose to believe our alarms are wrong if the outside is not as bright as we expect it to be.I went back to sleep... in a few minutes or so heard the knock on my bedroom door (It was my mother in law).Somehow i believe boys who fall in love have this sixth sense in them to chose the girl who has a lot of common likes and dislikes with his mom rather than him, and my husband is no exception. My mother in law is a nature admirer just like me.She said " You wanted to find out how "Cool" is Coimbatore right?Come see for yourself"(looking at the balcony)I checked the clock and it was 6.10 am.When i looked out the balcony.....I couldnt see anything! It was mist....And it was beautiful.I fell in love with Coimbatore that day!

Madras to Coimbatore
I am a very spiritual person rather than a religious person. So i believe in destiny. We shifted our furniture with the help of packers and movers and ourselves by car.My in laws were already at Coimbatore as my Father in law works as a General Manager in a Textile company at the outskirts of Coimbatore. He had arranged for a driver who traveled by bus from Coimbatore to Chennai the previous night just to drive us down to Coimbatore.Poor guy!....Although we anticipated the packers and movers would shift all furniture without hassle there were smaller loose furniture that did not have space so my husband decided to dump them in the car.I am a short person which makes a lot of people assume various things about what is comfortable for me or any other short person. However i had to squeeze myself at the back seat of the car while he was in the front seat.I am a little at awe even today thinking how did i travel like that for 8 long hours(we took a lottt of Coffee breaks since the driver liked to keep himself fresh) and did not feel like sleeping on the bed after i reached my in laws' place the next day compared to my darling hubby who slept through for hours.LOL!
Anyways,i think it happened to be so, because the roads we traveled were pretty smooth. At this point i need to tell you that this is just my opinion and i am known as an ultimate optimist. You can have a look at how i enjoyed this journey by turning it into a nature/candid photography shoot session. It was close to 500 and odd kilometers and i never knew it until my husband mentioned it by showing it on google maps.In fact later when i saw the collection of the pics i took that day it stroke me that seeing a camel the way i did in South India is a rare sight and i managed to capture it,ain't i lucky? :)
I lived happy that day.Coimbatore was most welcoming that day since it was neither sunny nor rainy. It was pleasant.

Self realisation ;)
I was born and brought up in Chennai and knew no place better than i did Chennai. When my husband announced that we were moving to Coimbatore for good.I was going through all kinds of divergent feelings.I had been to Coimbatore before but not really seen it around.I am an architect who had been here for site visits where my company had the courtesy to arrange a vehicle to pick me up from my accommodation to drop me at the site by every morning and vice versa by every evening--that is how much i knew Coimbatore.I did like the hospitality and politeness of 'Coimbatoreans',..the way they address even young children with respect , come out of their way to help strangers when in need. But as far as i knew-- as an outgoing person i felt the place was lacking destinations from a hang out point of view compared to Chennai. I was a little devastated to hear my husband when he said he wished to settle at Coimbatore.Since that day i made up my mind that no matter what, i will have to get used to the city and start loving what i have to enjoy in this city. Its been one and a half years then and after all its been quite an interesting and memorable phase of my life.
I am a very chirpy person in nature and my husband is a level headed kind of character, so you would understand as time goes on, that this combination is what that makes things interesting for us,I have found ways to have fun my own way, Of course with my husband. When i was talking to one of my friends once about the places here and how much i had an enjoying experience being there i heard from her that she knew little about things and was surprised to find out that i have explored well. This conversation i had with her brought the thought to my mind to start a blog about Coimbatore.Somehow i have started having a belonging feeling here and felt that now i can help people who are new here to explore the city by sharing my experiences and information that i gathered being new here.
WELCOME!!! :)
